It is really hard to notice someone without a smartphone these days. People have become very familiar with brands such as the iPhone, Blackberry and T-Mobile Sidekick that they have become household names, much like the usual, traditional mobile phones that reigned supreme in the market not so long ago. Whenever new models of a smartphone are being released by manufacturers, everybody rushes to the malls, cramming in stores just to get a hold of one of them.

It is not really surprising that smartphones are fashionable to a lot of individuals. They’re not just aesthetically great; they also offer features that cannot be found on traditional mobile phones and even computers. Who would have thought that Internet surfing, fax sending and instant messaging will become available on a single handheld device?

What makes smartphones even more popular is the fact that a lot of celebrities are endorsing them. It is pretty obvious that manufacturers wanted to cash in on this, tapping the services of popular actors, singers and athletes to do product endorsements so that their fans and other consumers would follow suit and buy the units. When that happens, profit will flow into the coffers of the manufacturers, giving them funds to use for further advertisement of existing smartphone models and the development of new units.

However, there are some issues consumers have to face with smartphones. For instance, efforts to unlock Sidekick 2008, Blackberry, iPhone and other models are being developed by a certain number of individuals. Doing so would give individuals liberty to use the service provider that they prefer over the one where the unit was bought.

Aside from developing unlock Sidekick, Blackberry, iPhone and other units, issues on durability are also being taken up. Unlike traditional mobile phones, smartphones are vulnerable to damage because of the light materials that were used in making them. To counter this, manufacturers came up with cases where units could be placed in order to protect them.

Smartphones have, indeed, become a hit in this modern world. From following celebrity endorsements, to developing unlock Sidekick programs, everybody is going crazy about this latest generation of mobile phones. As technology continues to influence the way we live, expect more advanced gadgets to come, even something that can outshine today’s smartphones.
